An astounding 264 million pieces of individual personal information were exposed by either identity theft or fraud in 2007. Odds are that your personal information will at some point be compromised, either by something you do or by something that someone you do business with does. Simple approaches (like locking down credit) are only partially effective, since they address only an estimated 22% of typical ID theft scenarios.
